Sylvia Niele is a registered psychologist with a Masters degree in clinical psychology. Whilst she has been working in private practice and public mental health with clients ranging in age from 4 to 95 years, she now focuses her work with adolescents, adults and older adults. Sylvia has worked with a diverse range of presentations including:
depression, anxiety and phobias, abuse and trauma, parenting and family challenges, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), loss and bereavement, autism spectrum disorders, adjustment issues, self-esteem, ageing, chronic pain management, eating disorders, and a wide variety of clinical presentations including personality related issues.Sylvia takes a collaborative, humanistic approach drawing on CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), imaginal exposure, mindfulness, attachment theory, CPT (cognitive processing therapy), Schema Therapy, existential and interpersonal psychotherapy, DBT (dialectical behaviour therapy), positive psychology, and in particular, an emotion-focused psycho-dynamic approach and ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy).
